We list only the Spanish-island hotels the operators actually package — TUI, Jet2 and Thomas Cook — so you can hold their price against a do-it-yourself total of the same hotel plus live flights from your nearest UK airport. Majorca, Ibiza, Menorca and all four headline Canaries are sold by all three; Formentera is TUI and Jet2 only. Balearics or Canaries — which week?
Balearics for summer (May–October) and short flights; the islands feel European, the food is excellent, and Majorca alone has hundreds of properties. Canaries are the year-round islands — winter sun in January, comfortable warmth in shoulder season, and a different landscape entirely (volcanic, dramatic, drier).
When is the best time for a Canary Islands holiday?
All four headline islands work year-round. Winter (Nov–Mar) is their peak strength — reliable 20–24°C sun when the UK is grey — but spring and autumn are quieter and warmer. Summer is hot but never as hot as the Med.
Does the list include all the islands?
Yes for the eight headline ones — Majorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera in the Balearics; Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in the Canaries. La Palma is held for later (operator coverage is thin).
